Protection of ceramic articles during handling and transport - by applying viscous mass which hardens to form elastomeric pads

Articles (1) such as chimney flue sections, made of ceramic, concrete, glass and similar materials are protected from damage while being handled, by an elastomeric covering applied to the regions susceptible to damage. The covering layer (4) is applied in the form of a viscous mass which subsequently hardens to form an elastomeric protective pad. The covering layer is removed by applyinga solvent which dissolves the elastomeric material so that the article is restored to its initial form before being used. The idea is particularly applicable to the handling and transport of ceramic chimney pots. USE/ADVANTAGE - Handling of ceramic articles without risk of damaging them.
