The force measuring arrangement contains a device applied to the cable at two points (13, 14) at which it is pressed against a pressure surface and a sensor arrangement (19, 20) which measures the force applied to the contact points. A computer (24) connected to the sensor arrangement contains storage registers (25) associated with the different measurement objects holding their spring characteristics. The registers are selected via an input unit (35) and their contents combined with the sensor signals to form force values which are displayed (36-38). USE/ADVANTAGE - Overcomes installation problems of conventional lever types when applied in machinery not allowing all-round access.
