Urethane cpds. are claimed of formula HO-CHR1-CH2-O-CO-NH-A-NR2R3 (I) and HO-CH2-CHR1-O-CO-NH-A-NR2R3 (II) (excluding cpds. in which R1 = H, R2 and R3 = Me, and A = (CH2)3-); R1 = H or Me; R2,R3 = 1-10C alkyl, or R2+R3 = 2-10C alkylene, in each case opt. with in-chain O atoms or NR4 gps. (with R4 = 1-6C alkyl); and A = opt. branched 1-10C alkylene or 5-10C cycloalkylene. Also claimed are mixts. of (I) and (II) with wt. ratio (1:99)-(99:1), pref. (80:20)-(20:80). Also claimed is the prodn. of the cpds. or mixts., by reaction of ethylene and/or propylene carbonate with amines of formula H2N-A-NR2R3 (III) at 0-160 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I)/(II) are useful as catalysts for the di-isocyanate poly-addn. process, esp. in the prod. of opt. cellular polyurethanes (claimed).
