<p>A long range, high intensity lamp or spotlight (10) comprises a head portion (18) at one end having a window opening (22) and a handle portion (14) connected to the head portion (18) and containing starter circuitry (16) for controlling operation of the lamp. A parabolic mirror (24) is mounted in the head portion (18) to face the window opening (22), and a high intensity electric arc bulb (28) such as a Xenon bulb is adjustably mounted within the mirror (24) so that the electrode gap is located as close as possible to the focus of the mirror. An adjustable mounting base (41) allows the position of the bulb (28) to be adjusted until the optimum position is reached, at which point the bulb (28) is secured in its position.</p> |
