The vacuum cleaner has an elongated housing (1, 2, 3) with a rear section (1) containing the supply batteries (7) powering a DC motor (5) for the suction fan which lies at the rear of a dust collection space (11) defined by the middle housing section (2) and containing a removable dust bag (12). The front section (3) of the housing has an air inlet duct (13) leading to the dust collection space (11) on the opposite side to the suction fan. The dust bag (12) is made of paper with a stiffening plate (14) fitted around the opening (15) at the inner end of the air inlet duct (13). ADVANTAGE - Hygienic dust disposal.
