A pipe weld cover apparatus comprising a sensor and an associated resin dispenser (12) wherein the sensor (11) locates a weld, transmits the information to the dispenser (12) and actuates the dispenser (12) to dispense a resin onto the weld (50) so as to flatten the weld projection thereby allowing for uniform and uninterrupted surface contact with a later applied tape coating system.
