This calibrating device comprises a light source (30) for emitting an incident light pulse, a calibrating optical fibre (10) of predetermined length, having a first polished end and a second polished end (12, 14), the first end (12) being arranged to receive the light pulse and the second end (14) being disposed facing the photodetector and semi-reflecting means (16, 17) disposed at each end (12, 14) of the calibrating optical fibre (10).
