It comprises the preselection, by sorting, of the depleted batteries and their classification in terms of diameter, mechanical perforation of the surround of sheet metal (sheet iron) constituting the case/casing, allowing the exit of the mercury vapour resulting from the heating of the batteries to a temperature of some 600 degree C for 10-20 minutes inside an oven, the condensation of the distilled mercury vapour and the obtaining of the liquid metal with a view to its re-use, an inert residue being left which is ground and whose ferric content is subjected to a magnetic separation treatment, yielding a remainder from which any silver present is separated, leaving an inert slag which can be incorporated into waste of the same type. <IMAGE> |
