Improved expansion joint which is placed on L-shaped profile sections positioned transversely to the road and fixed to the road surface, being joined to them by screwing and each half-part consisting of two rectangular handrails superposed in height and displaced with respect to one another, joined by welding, a series of identical elements of prismatic form ending in a short cylinder of smaller diameter emerging from the top one in the horizontal position, whilst, between each pair of prismatic projections, there are blind holes whose purpose is to contain the cylinders originating from the opposite half-piece, all the aforesaid with the aim of achieving a perfect joint connected to the rest of the road surface and with much simpler maintenance and replacement than at present. <IMAGE>
