PURPOSE:To provide the subject emulsion having excellent emulsion stability, minimized in disturbance to tunica muscosa nasi, having excellent absorbability through the tunica muscosa nasi and having good utility in living bodies by compounding an azacycloalkane derivative and glycylrrhizinic as an absorption accelerating agent and as an emulsifier, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The emulsion contains a calcitonin, preferably [ASU1-7] eel calcitonin (elcatonin) as an active ingredient, a compound of the formula (R is alkyl; m is 2-4; n is 1-15; but when n is 1-3, R is 5-11C alkyl) such as 1-[2-(decylthio)ethyl]azacyclopentane-2-one as an absorption-accelerating agent, glycylrrhizinic acid or a non-toxic salt thereof as an emulsifier and a proper amount of water. The concentrations of the calcitonin, the absorption- accelerating agent and the emulsifier are 10-10000IU/ml, 0.01-10 (W/V) and 0.1-5%, respectively, in the emulsion.
