A process for preventing the deposition of polymer encrustation during the polymerization of a monomer which has an ethylene double bond in a polymerization vessel, which comprises performing the said polymerization in a polymerization vessel whose inner wall surface has a coating comprising: A) a cationic polymer compound containing nitrogen, which is soluble in water, and B) a water-soluble anionic polymer compound is described. The preparation of anti-encrustation polymer compositions by mixing abovementioned components A) and B) is also described. The deposition of encrustations is effectively prevented and polymers with a high level of whiteness can be prepared.
