摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To detect surface contamination within a short time with high accuracy regardless of the shape and dimension of an article to be inspected by moving a flat scintillator along the surface of the article to be inspected carried to an inspection position by a profiling mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A five-axis gate type hanging system profiling mechanism 3 consists of the X-axis prescribed by two rails 31A, 31B parallel to the in/out direction of a conveyor 1, the rail 32 moving on the X-axis to constitute a Y-axis and the vertical rail 33 moving on the Y-axis the rail 32 to constitute a Z-axis. A head 34 moves on the Z-axis along the vertical rail 33 and can rotate not only around a vertical rotary shaft A by 360 deg. or more but also around a horizontal rotary shaft B by 360 deg. and a flat scintillator 2 is allowed to three- dimensionally approach an article to be inspected along the surface shape of the article to be inspected in respective directions to detect radiation. When the article to be inspected is small, said article is placed on a tray 12 to be fed to an inspection position by a belt conveyor 11A and, when the article is large, a movable inspection stand is used in place of the belt conveyor 11A.</p>
