Tetralydropyran and 1,3-dioxane cpd. of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts are new, where R1 = H or lower alkyl; R2 = opt. protected carboxy-lower alkyl; R3 = -CH2-NH-R4, -CH=N-R4 or -CH2-R5; R4 = acyl, acylamino, heterocyclic amino, heterocyclic-lower alkyl or aryl-lower alkoxy; R5 = acyloxy or heterocyclic-lower alkoxy; and X = -O- or -CH2-. - Specifically claimed are (2R,4R,5S)-5-((Z)-6-carboxy -2-hexenyl)-2-methyl-4-(4 -phenylsemicarbazonomethyl -1,3-dioxane and (2R,4R,5S)-5-((Z)-6-carboxy -2-hexenyl)-2-methyl-4 -(4-(phenyl thiosemi carbazonomethyl)-1,3-dioxane.
