PURPOSE:To provide the composite sintered body excellent in mechanical strength, low in thermal expansion and with its decomposition in a high-temp. atmosphere controlled by incorporating rutile and alumina skeetite into a matrix consisting of aluminum titanate. CONSTITUTION:Aluminum titanate powder, rutile (TiO2) powder and alumina skeetite (Al2O3.3.5-10SiO2) powder and mixed art kneaded, and the slurry is cast and then sintered. An aluminum titanate composite sintered body with aluminum titanate as the matrix and contg. rutile and alumina skeetite in the matrix is produced in this way. The contents of rutile and alumina a skeetite are respectively controlled to 5wt.%. Consequently, the decomposition in the high-temp. atmosphere is controlled by addition of rutile, and the mechanical strength is increased by addition of alumina skeetite. |
