The hospital x-ray equipment includes a support (1) for the patient which can be swung up from a horizontal to a vertical position so that the upper part of the body can be brought into line with the x-ray camera (8). In this position, the camera can be moved horizontally towards or away from the patient's back, assisted by a counterweight arrangement (9, 10, 11). The screen (7) can also be adjusted horizontally. The support (1) carries a disc (13) with an anchorage (19) for a cable (17) which travels over pulleys (18, 20) for attachment to a horizontal spring (15). When the support is at rest with the cable extending directly from the lower pulley (18) towards the disc, the support is at an angle of 20 deg. to the vetical, towards the camera position.
