A material testing machine is designed in partic. for stress testing of samples at very low or very high temp. It is a two spindle dual block device with at least two draw or compression rods. The machine is divided into a spindle block and a sample block. The sample block is arranged to enable insertion and clamping of the samples and where necessary also for insertion of cooling or heating devices. Apart from the drive mechanism, the machine is formed of two easily separable blocks, the spindle and sample blocks, each constituting a partic. component group. Each spindle has between one and four spindle block studs. The sample block has upper and lower yokes, either two or four studs, and a moving yoke.
