PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption of a radio calling terminal equipment for a time zone with less calling traffic at night or the like by monitoring the calling traffic to the radio calling terminal equipment and sending a period extension signal to the radio calling terminal equipment at a time zone when the calling traffic is less. CONSTITUTION:A radio base station 30 sends a period extension signal to a radio calling terminal equipment 40 at a time zone when a calling traffic is less and sends a release signal to the radio calling terminal equipment 40 at a time zone with much calling traffic, and each radio calling terminal equipment extends more the time period of the intermittent reception when the terminal equipment 40 receives the period extension signal and restores the time period when the terminal equipment 40 receives the release signal. When a transmission request of a calling signal is generated after the period extension signal is set, the radio base station 30 sends a release signal to each radio calling terminal equipment 40, then sends the calling signal thereafter, and when each radio calling terminal equipment receives the release signal, the terminal equipment restores the time period of the intermittent reception to the normal state to await the calling signal. |
