摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To enable measurement of water content in a plurality of kinds of paper by using a ratio of light having wavelength to be absorbed in water to light having wavelength not to be absorbed in water, a scattering degree of the paper and a calibration curve obtained from a relation between calibration curves and the scattering degree. CONSTITUTION:A light source 1 emits light having wavelength to be absorbed in water and light having wavelength not to be absorbed in water, while a light detector 8 receives the lights via a sheet of paper 7. A calculating means 10 calculates, by an output from the detector 8, a ratio R/M of the light having such wavelength that the light is absorbed by the water in the paper 7 and attenuated and the light having wavelength not to be absorbed. A plurality of calibration curves expressing a relation between a ratio R/M of light amounts in different kinds of paper and a water content have been created, and a single calibration curve expressing a relation between its inclination and a scattering degree has been made in advance, whereby a calculating means 11 can measure water contents in a plurality of kinds of paper from the single calibration curve, a ratio R/M in light amounts output from the means 10 and the scattering degree output from a scattering degree meter.</p>
