PURPOSE:To pick up a stereoscopic video image without spoiling its stereoscopic effect even when the distance between an object and the title image pickup device is large by utilizing the information of a zoom mechanism incorporated in the image pickup device for controlling the distance between the 1st and 2nd cameras. CONSTITUTION:This stereoscopic video image pickup device is provided with the 1st camera main body 201 incorporated with the 1st zoom mechanism, 2nd camera main body 202 incorporated with the 2nd zoom mechanism, a camera supporting mechanism which supports the main bodies 201 and 202 in such a way that the main bodies 201 and 202 are fixed horizontally in the same direction at an angle against the optical axes of the main bodies 201 and 202 and the main body 201 can be moved in the leftward direction in which the main body 201 is separated from the main body 202 and rightward direction in which the main body 201 is brought nearer to the main body 202, driving means including a motor 110 which moves the main body 201 in the leftward and rightward directions, zoom controlling means 302 which outputs zoom adjusting data for commonly controlling the 1st and 2nd zoom mechanisms, and data converting means 306 which converts zoom adjusting data outputted from the means 302 into motor controlling data for driving the motor. |
