This device comprises, on the one hand, a plurality of discs (7) with parallel axes located side by side in the same plane and driven in rotation in one and the same direction and at the same speed, and, on the other hand, a plurality of presser members (14) each associated with a disc (7), each capable, temporarily and simultaneously with the other members (14), of pressing the material (3) against a point on the surface (8) of the corresponding disc (7) so as to eliminate any sliding between the material (3) and the disc (7) at the point in question, the distances (d1) separating the presser members (14) from one another being equal to the centre distances (e1) of the discs (7) and these same presser members (14) being capable of being displaced together with respect to the discs (7) according to fictitious circles (21) concentric with the discs (7).
