PURPOSE:To obtain the high-characteristic erasable optical recording medium having excellent reproducibility of recording, erasing and recording and repetitive durability by providing a recording reflecting layer contg. an aluminum- neodymium (AlNd) alloy. CONSTITUTION:This medium has a recording reflecting layer contg. an aluminum-neodymium (Al-Nd) alloy. The Al-Nd alloy is preferably an Al-Nd alloy having 8 atomic% Nd content and 92 atomic% Al content. Such Al-Nd alloy forms a stable amorphous phase by cooling and the phase transfer to a crystal phase is selectively generated by heating. In addition, the reflectivity changes largely between the amorphous phase and the crystal phase. The optical recording medium which has the sufficiently high reflectivity difference at the time of unrecording and at the time of recording and the excellent reproducibility and durability in long-term repetitive recording and erasing is obtd. in this way. |
