Thee length measurer (11) is installed between the steering column housing (12) and the track rod (14) in the case of toothed rod steering. A pinion (13) at the end of the steering column engages a toothed rod (14) and slides it when the steering wheel is turned. The length measurer is installed between the rod (14) and a neck of the steering housing to respond to rotation of the steering column. The measurer can be inductive or ohmic.
