PURPOSE:To obtain a semipermeable dual membrane having high removing rate of low-concn. cation especially under alkali condition by using such a crosslinked polyamide having quaternary nitrogen atoms to constitute a super- thin film layer of a semipermeable dual membrane. CONSTITUTION:A super-thin film layer essentially comprising crosslinked polyamide substantially having separation property is applied on a fine porous supporting membrane substantially having no separation performance. In this process, the crosslinked polyamide is formed by interfacial condensation polymn. of polyfunctional amine and polyfunctional acid halide to constitute the skeleton and to have quaternary nitrogen atoms as side chains. The obtd. semipermeable dual membrane has high removing rate of cation, especially even under alkali condition or in a low concn. region., and thereby, it gives large generation of water.
