The device for pruning living trees has a cutting element which embraces the tree and can be moved up and down the stem. The device is mounted on a tiltable lift unit on a cross-country vehicle, and consists of a sickle-shaped disk (12) mounted on the frame (10) which performs oscillating turning movements, and is driven by a drive unit (14). The disk (12) has cutting tools (17) directed upwards and which slide along the tree stem and remove the branches. USE/ADVANTAGE - The device is simple, safe and reliable in operation.
