Device for performing rapid immunochemical tests comprises a capillary-active layer of a dry, porous, non-swellable, granular, molecular sieve material (I) with pores of a size such that they can be penetrated by soluble antibodies for detection of antigens but not by the resulting soluble antigen-antibody complex. Pref. The device in a glass or plastics capillary tube with an inside dia. of 0.5-5 (esp. 1-2) mm and a length of 5-20 (esp. 10-20) cm, the bottom part of which is filled with (I) impregnated with a labelled antibody, the rest being filled with non-impregnated (I). When an enzyme label is used, the upper part of the tube contains a chromogenic reagent system.
