The knock down large container has a base (5) with swivel mounted front wall frame and rear wall frame (6). The roof frame (10) which can be raised and lowered is neutralised regarding its weight by both at least one spring (12) supported on one side and by one of each associated draw means guided over its free end (15) in an area of the roof frame and front and rear wall frames so that energy-saving manual operation is possible. One end (14) of the draw means (13) is attached to the roof frame and the second end (17) is attached to the front and rear wall frames (6). USE/ADVANTAGE - The container can be easily collapsed into an empty transport position.
