The axial support consists of one or more ring discs (6,7), which are held by a plate carrier (2). It supports an end plate (9) of the stack (15). A disc has a toothed profile (4), meshing with a similar one of the carrier, and is held by locking rings (8A,B), located in ring grooves in the counter profile. A ring disc has a profile, for even bending load of a carrier, which is supported on one side, and subjected to an even load. Under max. load, the end face (13) remains parallel to the end plate. One ring disc has a radial ring gap (7), which axially divides it into one part facing the friction plate, and one part away from it.
