PURPOSE:To obtain a high-performance catalyst for purifying exhaust gas by adding a bimetal alkoxide of magnesium and aluminum to a mixture aq. soln. of a salt of a noble metal and triethanolamine to produce a sol, and drying this sol. CONSTITUTION:A bimetal alkoxide of magnesium and aluminum is added to a mixture aq. soln. of a salt such as nitrate, chloride of a noble metal such as platinum, paradium, etc., and triethanolamine (with the ratio of the noble metal salt solid component/triethanolamine=1/20-1/3) to produce a sol. This sol is separated, dried and baked to obtain a catalyst. In the obtd. catalyst, a high dispersion state of noble metal particles and oxide exist with strong interaction between them, and thereby, the catalyst has high low temp. activity and high selectivity for reduction and decomposition reaction of NOx. |
