A process and apparatus for the production of a columnar body wherein a mixture including a major amount of thermoplastic particles is melted to a pasty strand, set into a rotating motion around its axis and substantially horizontally fed into a hollow mold. The pasty strand is circumferentially deposited in the hollow mold along its inner wall, stacked in loops and transformed into the shape of the body, whereafter the body is solidified by cooling and removed from the mold. A columnar body having increased rigidity relative to its weight and a foamed central zone surrounded by an unfoamed marginal zone may be produced. |
