PURPOSE:To easily control the growth direction of nerve fiber in high accuracy and to produce a material for controlling the growth direction of nerve fiber by fixing a neurocyte adhesive substance in the form of a pattern. CONSTITUTION:A neurocyte non-adhesive substance such as polydimethyl acrylamide is bonded to the surface of a substrate such as a plastic culture dish by the photo-reaction of an azide compound. A neurocyte adhesive substance such as cell adhesive protein or basic peptide is fixed on the substrate in the form of a pattern or the neurocyte adhesive substance is fixed on the surface by the photo-reaction of an azide compound and then a neurocyte non- adhesive substance is fixed on the substrate in the form of a pattern.
