The method comprising the step of erasing at the same time as recording. This step comprising recording said information with a laser beam that is varied between two power levels, a first low power level that is sufficient to erase any deformations that may already be in the recording layer and a second higher power level that is sufficient to form deformations corresponding to the information desired to be recorded.
