PURPOSE:<Effect of invention> To manufacture an electrode with an excellent strength which can absorb and discharge a plenty of electron providing substance and electron receiving substance, by compounding or solid-solving a metal and a carbon. CONSTITUTION:In an electrode which consists of a mixture of a metal substance and a carbon substance, the metal substance contributes to improve the conductibility of the electrode, while the compound or the solid solution with the carbon at the interfaces strengthens the combination of the metal substance and the carbon substance, and furthermore, a solid or a liquid organic compound is used to make the condition suitable to form the above electrode including the carbon substance. And in an electrode using a porous metal base substance, both the strength and the conductibility of the electrode itself are increased further. A nickel powder forms a sintered substance 1, and layers 3 which consist of solid solutions or compounds Ni3C of nickel and carbon are formed at the interfaces of the sintered substances 1 and the carbon substances 2, to form a structure including numerous pores 14. |
