PURPOSE:To improve oral retaining stability, mounting feel and durability by laminating and integrating the three layers; the 1st layer of a soft material in contact with the dental crown, the 2nd layer of a hard material covering this layer and the 3rd layer of a soft material which covers only the masticating surface part of the 2nd layer. CONSTITUTION:The 1st layer 6 in contact with the dental crown 9 holds the splint by the undercuts in the cervical part and intertooth part. The blank material to be formed of the soft material to allow the easy attachment and detachment is exemplified by soft resins, such as low-molecular polyethylene, ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer and ethylene/ethylene acrylate copolymer. The 2nd layer 7 which is an intermediate layer consists of the hard material for preventing the deformation over the entire part of the splint and the perforation of the 3rd layer 8 on the masticating surface at the time of attachment and detachment or mastication. Hard thermoplastic resins, such as polystyrene, high-mol.wt. polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyphenylene oxides, are usable as the blank material. The 3rd layer 8 is limited only to the masticating surface of the splint and is in contact with the antogonist tooth. The blank materials are the same as the materials of the 1st layer 6. |
