<p>The invention relates to a dot impact type serial printer comprising a platen (5) for holding a sheet (S) thereon, a print head (1) including a plurality of print wires having tips thereof arranged on a printing surface of said print head, said print head exerting said tips of said print wires for printing an image, and print drive means (6, 7, 8a, 8b) for driving successive ones of said plurality of print wires at an interval less than one-half of the time in which a surface wave passes said platen (5) in the lengthwise direction of said platen.
