PURPOSE:To bring the density of a converted picture closer to the density of its original picture by feeding back the density error between the original picture block of the original picture and the picture element of the converted picture at the time of deciding the density of the converted picture. CONSTITUTION:A section 6 for calculating density errors between original pictures and converted pictures calculates the density difference, namely, density error 109 between the total sum 105 of density correcting values of an original picture block 102 and the density of a converted picture element 107. A density error distributing section 8 successively corrects density differences between a converted picture and original picture by feeding back the weighted value of the error 109 to surrounding picture element blocks of the block 102. A density error distributing ratio multiplying section 10 performs weighting calculation on the error 109 and a section 9 for deciding the density error distribution of surrounding blocks decides the surrounding picture blocks to which the density error is distributed. |
