PURPOSE:To obtain a return function of a lubricating oil to an oil pan smoothly all the time by forming openings of a lubricating oil return passage on a cylinder head portion facing the bottom part of a valve system chamber and a head cover portion, respectively. CONSTITUTION:As for a lubricating oil return passage from a valve system chamber 21 to an oil pan 42, an oil passage 84 in a lower part of a cylinder head 18 is opened below a cam shaft 22. Also, the oil passage 84 is opened on a joint surface with a cylinder block 14 and positioned between both oil passages on the intake and the discharge sides for an oil pump. Moreover, the oil passage 84 is connected to an oil passage 85 opened on a joint surface with the cylinder head 18 of the cylinder block 14. An oil passage 92 is also opened on the inner surface at the lower part of a head cover 19, and this oil passage 92 is made to communicate to a projecting oil delivery pipe 93 provided diagonally downward from the side surface of the head cover 19. |
