Trowel with ergonomically designed handle - has flat area to suit thumb with rounded section for fingers

The handle of a bricklayer's trowel is ergonomically designed to minimise fatigue of the user. The handle is attached to the blade so that the extension of its longitudinal axis (19) intersects the plane of the blade at the blade tip. The upper region of the handle, (14) near the tang of the blade, is slightly flattened to suit the contour of the user's thumb. The cross-section of the handle is roughly rectangular with rounded corners while the lower surface is rounded to suit the curve of the fingers with the maximum diameter of the handle being in line with the index finger.
