PRODUCTION OF COTTON-LIKE WOVEN OR KNIT FABRIC

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fabric having slimy and soft feeling and natural looseness by producing an interlocked and collected yarn from a sea-island conjugate multifilament yarn and a multifilament yarn having high boiling-water shrinkage using a specific method, weaving or knitting the collected yarn and removing the sea-component from the fabric. CONSTITUTION:(A) A sea-island conjugate multifilament yarn and (B) a multifilament yarn having a boiling-water shrinkage higher than that of the component A by >=1% are subjected to a turbulent fluid flow treatment while supplying the yarn B at a rate equal to the yarn A or in excess of the yarn A by >=1%. The treated yarn is interlocked with a fluid flow and the obtained interlocked and collected yarn is woven or knitted. The objective fabric can be obtained by removing the sea-component of the yarn A from the woven or knit fabric. The island component of the yarn A is preferably a polyester and the sea component is preferably a polyester copolymerized with 5-sodium sulfoisophthalic acid dimethyl ester. The yarn B is preferably a polyester copolymerized with isophthalic acid, etc., and having a boiling water shrinkage of >=10%.
