PURPOSE:To promote the reliability of the operation of a parking brake pedal by adopting a double nail-piece structure for raising only the foot part of a nail piece by the first action to pull a release rod and detaching the head part of the nail piece by the second action to step a pedal to release a brake. CONSTITUTION:For operating a parking brake, when a pedal 8 is stepped in, a ratchet plate 6 linked therewith is turned, and a nail piece 15 is engaged with ratchet teeth 14 for locking the pedal 8. Meanwhile, for releasing the parking brake, at first, a release rod 2 is pulled, and its bent part 24 is drawn to a position 24'. Then, a foot part 21 of the nail piece is turned around a shaft 22 by the bent part 24 against a spring 18. Subsequently, when the pedal 8 is stepped in, the reaction force given to the nail piece 15 by teeth 14 is taken off, the foot part 21 is turned around a contacting point 24'' with the bent part 24 by the spring 18. Consequently, the head part 20 of the nail piece is returned to be in a straight line with the foot part 21 for releasing said locking. |
