PURPOSE:To obtain the captioned expanded body useful for a pad for a seat and the like and having no crack or the like on the surface layer thereof with a small amount of consumed parting agent and an easy temperature control by a method wherein stock solution is poured into a cavity between an upper mold and a lower mold on which the thin platelike synthetic resin expandable body is disposed to expand it. CONSTITUTION:In case the synthetic resin expanded body is formed by foaming by pouring the stock solution 6 into the cavity 3 between the upper mold 1 and the lower mold 2, the upper mold 1 and the lower mold 2 are opposed so as to be ascendable and descendable relatively to form the cavity 3 having a shape substantially equal to a product (a) such as the pad for a seat or the like between both of the molds. The cavity 3 is communicated with open air through an opening 4 formed between the molds 1, 2. The thin platelike synthetic resin expandable body 5 is disposed on the interior of the lower mold 2 forming the cavity 3 and a proper amount of the stock solution 6 such as urethane or the like is poured thereon, then, the upper mold 1 is arranged at a predetermined position. The expandable body 5 is abutted against the surface of the lower mold 2 by a pressure due to the foaming and expansion of the stock solution 6 and is integrated with an expanded body 7, thereby forming the product (a). |
