PURPOSE:To remove odor elements by carrying out a process for heating air in a hoistway and a process for passing the air in the hoistway through an activated catalyst and an absorbing filter in order while emitting an oxidizing agent into the heated hoistway. CONSTITUTION:A hoistway 1 is heated by heaters 37, 38 up to at a prescribed temperature to remove smell elements E of working fluid which stick on the wall surface of the hoistway 1 and the wall surface of a car 2. Next, ozone is generated by an ozone generator 31 to store the ozone in an ozone storing tank 3 through a pipe 33, and the ozone is also emitted to a ceiling 21, a middle part 22, and a pit part 23 in the hoistway 1 respectively through pipes 34, 35, 36 to expedite not only oxidation of floating odor elements in the hoistway 1, but also oxidation of remaining odor elements which make removal by heating in the wall surface of the hoistway 1 and the wall surface of the car 2 incomplete. Then the fan 46 of an activated catalyst device 39 is operated to decomposite the odor elements by an activated catalyst 42, and an absorbing filter 43 catches most of decomposited odor elements in the air passing through the absorbing filter. |
