<p>PURPOSE:To improve the production efficiency, synthesizing rate, etc., by setting a detachable annular heat-resistant plate close to the end of a starting material where the deposition of glass particulates begins coaxially with the starting material and growing the integrated glass-particulate deposit on one side of the heat-resistant plate. CONSTITUTION:A detachable annular heat-resistant plate 4 is set close to the end of a starting material or core rod 3 where the deposition of glass particulates begins coaxially with the starting material or core rod 3. The gaseous glass material is injected from a combustion burner 1 and subjected to a reaction in a flame 2, the formed glass particulates are supplied around the rotating starting material or core rod 3, and the integrated glass-particulate deposit 5 is grown on one side of the plate 4. Consequently, the tapered ineffective part at the end of the glass-particulate deposit to be synthesized is reduced, and cracking is prevented at the ineffective part.</p> |
