PURPOSE:To produce an electrode structure for ozone production capable of maintaining current efficiency practically constant by applying a perfluorocarbonsulfonic acid type ion exchange resin to the surface of a solid electrolyte, exerting heating, and then disposing a lead oxide anode in a manner to be in close adhesion, to the above surface. CONSTITUTION:A liquid perfluorocarbonsulfonic acid type ion exchange resin or a suspension of ion exchange resin powder is applied to one side of a perfluorcarbonsulfonic acid type ion exchange membrane as a solid electrolyte and heated, by which a porous ion exchange resin layer is formed. Subsequently, an anode in which lead oxide is used as an electrode catalyst is disposed, in close adhesion, on the above layer. As the above anode base material, it is most suitable to form a lead dioxide anode by forming a thin lead dioxide layer on the surface of a base material of titanium, tantalum, or alloy thereof while interposing, if necessary, a conductive intermediate layer. By this method, the electrode structure for ozone production capable of maintaining current efficiency for ozone production constant without reducing effective electrode area is obtained. |
