PURPOSE:To obtain a metal rolling oil of excellent rolling performance, by a method in which an alkylene oxide is added to a reaction product of polycarboxylic acid and castor oil, and then the reaction product is reacted with a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:An alkylene oxide is added to a partially esterified produt of (hydrogenated) castor oil with one or more residual hydroxyl groups, obtained by the reaction of one or more of partial ester or amide compounds of C4 or higher polycarboxylic acids with at least one C11 or higher alkyl group and one or more residual carboxyl groups per one molecule or C12 or higher aliphatic or polycarboxylic acids. Then, the addition product thus obtained is reacted with one or more multifunctional compounds selected from the group consisting of polybasic organic acids, polybasic inorganic acids, epoxy compounds, and isocyanate componds, which have two or more functional groups reactive with hydroxy groups per one molecule. |
