A cell protectant composition is composed of galangin and at least one compound selected from quercetin,myricetin, kaempferol, baicalein or EGCG ((-)- epigallocatechin gallate) as a flavonoid. Pref. the compsn. is a mixt. of EGCG and galangin (1:3 - 3:1). The flavonoid concentration is pref. 3-5 mole. The flavonids-containing cell protectant removes hazardous organic free radicals and activated oxygen species.
