The device, which can be used in industry and research, comprises a computer (10) equipped with a bulk digital memory (12) for storing digital information, possibly pre-processed, originating from a source (14) and a video recorder (16) having at least one sound channel. This device also comprises a modem (20) interposed on an asynchronous link between the computer (10) and an audio access to the recorder (16). The computer is programmed to generate time-coding signals and to store them in real time in memory at the same time as it sends them on the asynchronous link. The computer is also provided to restore the digital synchronisation information with the time-coding signals supplied by the recorder when reconstituting. <IMAGE>
