The invention relates to an electron gun and to a cathode-ray tube containing such an electron gun. An electron gun, in which an electronic field set up between the axially opposite parts of a pair of electrodes constituting a main lens, has a distribution without symmetry of revolution, has parts (54, 65) for correcting the electric field, which are provided in the respective electrodes (5, 6) of the pair of electrodes and substantially impart symmetry of revolution to a lens effect applied to the electron beams.
