<p>New prods. (I) are obtd. by coupling (esp. covalently) a lectin (II) with a specific ligand (III) to give a prod. soluble in aq. media. (I) can be used as reagents for immunoassay of antigens or antibodies (forming a linkage between the analyte and a labelling reagent) or can be reacted with polysaccharides to form complexes, e.g. for affinity chromatography. (II) is pref. concanavalin A (CONA), ricin or wheatgerm agglutinin (WGA), and (III) can be an antigen, hapten, antibody, hormone, hormone receptor, enzyme, enzyme inhibitor or lectin. (I) can be prepd. by reacting (II) with (III) in the presence of glutaraldehyde, by activating (II) with p-benzoquinone and reacting with (III), or by activating (III) with p-benzoquinone and reacting with (II).</p> |
