<p>A dispensing unit retainer is formed with a tapered surface (6) into which a dispensing unit, such as a modular pump (8) or the like, is permanently retained with an interference fit. Axially inward movement of the modular pump is limited by a shoulder (13) formed at the inner end of the tapered surface (6). The retainer can be integrally formed with a container (2). Once installed in the retainer, the dispensing unit (8) cannot be removed without damage to the retainer or dispensing unit. An upstanding annular wall (7) concentrically surrounding the surface (6) includes an inwardly extending projection (107) for sealing the discharge orifice (85) of the dispensing unit actuator (31) and two axially extending openings (71, 73) cooperating with the actuator (31) to inhibit accidental discharge of the dispensing unit (8).</p> |
