Internal reinforcing ring for tyres - gives additional lateral side wall support with low radial stiffness
摘要
A tyre is equipped with internal reinforcement for extreme conditions to give virtual widening of the rim. At least one or two flanged rings are mounted inside the tyre to have a zone (A) in contact with the side wall where the dia. is pref. greater than that of the rim flange. The stiffness in the lateral direction is typically 10 times higher than in the radial direction. Lubricants and the use of low friction surfaces reduce the coefficient of friction between the inner liner and the ring to below 0.1. USE/ADVANTAGE - Good tyre performance can be achieved under extreme conditions (fierce braking, impact on kerb, tyre pressure loss) while retaining a low profile and comfortable ride under normal conditions.
